How to reset your suitcase combination lock

Our cases ship with the combination set to 0-0-0. Nothing is broken if the case will not open on a code you have not set yet: try 0-0-0 first.

Setting your own code on a 3 dial combination lock

1. Open the case and set the dials to the current code, which is 0-0-0 on a new case.
2. Find the reset control. On most of our locks it is a small button or lever beside the dials, recessed so it cannot be knocked. Press and hold it, or push it towards the dials until it stays down.
3. With the control held, turn each dial to the new number you want.
4. Release the control. Turn the dials away and back to your new code to check it opens.

If you have forgotten the code

There is no master key on a plain 3 dial combination lock: that is the point of it. If the code is lost, the practical route is to work through the combinations on the dials with light tension on the zip pulls, which takes patience but no tools. There are only 1,000 of them.

TSA locks are different

Some of our ranges carry a TSA or Travel Sentry lock, which has a keyway as well as the dials so airport security can open and relock it without cutting. The keyway is for the authorities, not for you: it does not help with a forgotten code. Where a range has a TSA lock we say so on that range's page, and where it does not we say that too.

A word on the zips

A combination lock holds the zip pulls together. It is a deterrent against an opportunist, not a strongbox. For checked luggage we would always put valuables in your hand luggage.
