Description
The Machin is an upright genuine leather bifold, and it fastens on a concealed press stud with nothing on show. RFID blocking is built in, so contactless cards cannot be scanned while they are inside.
A slim leather strap is stitched to the opening edge of the back panel, wraps round that edge and lies horizontally across the front, stopping about a third of the way in at a softly rounded tip. It snaps onto a press stud that is completely concealed: the knob sits on the underside of the strap and its mate is buried in the front panel. The result is a front face of clean uninterrupted leather with no stud face, no rivet, no nameplate and no logo anywhere.
Inside
Open it book-wise and the fold runs vertically down the middle. The left leaf carries two card slots stacked at the top, and beneath them a leather ID pocket whose front is cut away in a long sweeping curve so a thumb can push the card up. Against the spine, a zipped coin pocket runs almost the full height of the fold, worked vertically, with a silver-tone metal slider and a flat knurled pull. The right leaf has one more card slot set into the top of the outer panel, and below it two full-height compartments split by a central seam that form the note bay. Three card slots in total.
Every lining surface is the same leather as the outside. There is no fabric lining, no contrast colour, no stamp and no embossing inside.
Outside
Upright and slim in the hand, with gently rounded corners. One row of tonal stitching runs along the top, bottom and opening edges; the spine is left as a soft unstitched rounded fold. The black has a fine even pebble grain, the dark brown a smoother waxier surface broken by strong natural veining and crease lines. Strap and thread match the body in both colours.
Colours
Black and Dark Brown. A true black, not grey or navy; a dark brown with warm highlights across the grain, not a tan.
